Pakistan experienced a series of earthquakes over the past 24 hours, the National Center for Seismology (NCS) reported.
The most recent tremor, measuring magnitude 3.5, struck at 5:04 am IST on Saturday at a shallow depth of 10 km near latitude 36.64 N and longitude 72.96 E, making aftershocks likely.
Earlier, a 3.9-magnitude quake hit the region at 3:25 am IST, followed by a 4.2-magnitude tremor on Friday night at 8:20 pm IST, both at the same depth.
Shallow earthquakes like these are particularly dangerous due to the stronger ground shaking they cause, posing risks to structures and human life.
Pakistan lies in a seismically active collision zone, with provinces such as Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Gilgit-Baltistan on the Eurasian plate and Sindh and Punjab on the Indian plate, making the region prone to frequent seismic activity.
