A section of the helipad on which President Droupadi Murmu’s helicopter landed in Kerala’s Pathanamthitta collapsed moments after touchdown on Wednesday morning, creating brief concern among security personnel.
The incident occurred at the Rajiv Gandhi Indoor Stadium in Pramadam, where the President had arrived ahead of her visit to the Sabarimala temple.
According to officials, the helipad had been constructed overnight after a last-minute decision to shift the landing site from Nilackal near Pamba due to bad weather.
A senior police officer said the concrete surface had not fully set, causing it to cave slightly under the helicopter’s weight.
Personnel were seen pushing the aircraft’s wheels out of the caved-in portion. Fortunately, no one was injured, and the President continued her schedule as planned.
