Andhra Pradesh Chief minister N Chandrababu Naidu, on Wednesday, confirmed the death to two people in Andhra Pradesh due to the wrath of Cyclone Montha.Â
The chief minister assured that precautionary measures taken by the administration had significantly minimised casualties and damage.
Naidu said that around 10,000 personnel were kept on standby to restore power supply across affected districts, with normalcy expected to return by Wednesday afternoon.
He instructed ministers and officials to visit cyclone-hit areas, assess damages, and ensure the distribution of food and essential supplies to affected families.
Departments have been asked to submit detailed damage reports to the Union government.
The chief minister conducted an aerial survey of the affected regions and is expected to tour Bapatla, Palnadu, Krishna, Konaseema, and Eluru districts before inspecting flood-hit areas in Allavaram mandal.
Meanwhile, Cyclone Montha, which had formed over the Bay of Bengal, has weakened into a deep depression over coastal Andhra Pradesh and adjoining Telangana.
The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), police, and fire services were lauded for swiftly clearing uprooted trees and restoring disrupted power lines during the storm.
