BCCI issues second medical update on Shreyas Iyer, confirms steady recovery

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Tuesday issued a second medical update on cricketer Shreyas Iyer.

The post confirmed that he is recovering well after sustaining a spleen injury during the third ODI against Australia in Sydney on October 25.

According to the BCCI, Iyer suffered a blunt injury to his abdomen, leading to a laceration of the spleen and internal bleeding.

The injury was promptly identified, and the bleeding was successfully controlled. “His condition is now stable, and he continues to be under observation,” the statement said.

A follow-up scan conducted on October 28 showed significant improvement, and Iyer is reportedly on the road to recovery.

The BCCI’s medical team, in consultation with specialists in Sydney and India, will continue to monitor his progress closely.

The board thanked fans for their concern and assured that further updates will be shared as his recovery advances.
