BJP files complaint against Rahul Gandhi for ‘dance remarks’ about PM Modi

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Thursday lodged a formal complaint with the Bihar Chief Election Officer, accusing Rahul Gandhi of making “highly derogatory, indecent and personal” remarks about Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally.

The complaint, submitted ahead of upcoming elections in the state, alleges that Gandhi’s remarks violated the Model Code of Conduct for being personal vilification with no link to public policy or performance.

During a Mahagathbandhan rally in Muzaffarpur, Rahul Gandhi stated: “Tell him at a rally, ‘Mr Prime Minister, we’ll vote for you if you dance,’ and he’ll break into the act without a second thought.”

He further asserted that although Bihar is governed by Nitish Kumar, the BJP “pulls strings from afar, with zero regard for Bihar’s people.”

According to the BJP’s complaint, the Congress MP’s comment is an “attack on the personal character and dignity of the Hon’ble Prime Minister” and crosses “all boundaries of decency and democratic discourse.”

The party has requested that the Election Commission of India issue a show-cause notice to Rahul Gandhi and direct him to issue an unconditional public apology immediately.
