Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar on Monday said the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections will be the most “transparent, secure, and easy elections” in India’s history.
Addressing a press conference to announce the poll schedule, Kumar said the state has “shown the way to the nation” in purifying voter lists.
He detailed that the voter list revision began on June 24, with the draft published on August 1 and the final list released on September 30 after allowing claims and objections until September 1.
Bihar now has 7.42 crore registered voters, including 3.92 crore men, 3.5 crore women, and 14 lakh first-time voters. Additionally, 14,000 voters are aged above 100 years.
The CEC said 90,712 polling stations have been set up across the state and warned that any fake news on social media during the election period would be dealt with strictly.
