The Centre will conduct a nation-wide Digital Life Certificate (DLC) campaign for pensioners from November 1 to 30, covering 2,000 districts and sub-divisional headquarters across India, according to an official statement.
Organised by the Department of Pension & Pensioners’ Welfare, this will be the fourth such campaign, aimed at ensuring that every pensioner, including those in remote areas, can submit their life certificate conveniently.
The campaign will be conducted in collaboration with 19 pension disbursing banks, India Post Payments Bank (IPPB), Pensioners’ Welfare Associations, the Controller General of Defence Accounts, Railways, Department of Telecommunications, UIDAI, and the Ministry of Electronics & IT.
IPPB will conduct DLC camps in all districts through its network of 1.8 lakh postmen and Gramin Dak Sewaks, offering doorstep services to pensioners regardless of their bank.
Mobile devices equipped for fingerprint and face-based authentication will facilitate DLC generation.
Pensioners can also access more information at ippbonline.com. Camps will also be held at multiple locations in 300 cities, with staff visiting homes and hospitals of aged or sick pensioners.
Fifty-seven registered Pensioners’ Welfare Associations will assist in mobilising pensioners.
The campaign will include an extensive awareness drive through SMS, WhatsApp, social media, banners, and local media.
DLC 4.0 targets 2 crore certificates, with a strong emphasis on face authentication technology to ensure universal coverage.
Last year, a record 1.62 crore DLCs were generated, including over 50 lakh via face authentication, demonstrating the success of previous campaigns.
Pensioners are required to submit a life certificate every year in November for the continuation of their pension, and this initiative aims to make the process seamless and accessible nationwide.
