West Indian batting legend Chris Gayle has opened up about his departure from Punjab Kings during the 2021 IPL season, saying he felt “disrespected” by the franchise.
Speaking to Shubhankar Mishra, Gayle revealed that he was treated like a “kid” despite his contributions to the team. He recalled an emotional moment when he called then-PBKS director of operations Anil Kumble and broke down in tears, expressing his disappointment.
Gayle, who joined Punjab Kings in 2018, played with the franchise until 2021 before retiring from the tournament. He has also been an integral part of RCB’s batting line-up.
Popularly known as the “Universe boss”, Gayle has played 149 IPL matches, scoring more than 4900 runs, including his record-breaking knock of 175* runs which still remains the highest individual score in IPL history.
