With air quality in Delhi remaining in the ‘very poor’ category and showing a worsening trend, the Commission for Air Quality Management (CAQM) on Friday enforced Stage 3 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) across the entire National Capital Region.
The air quality index (AQI) in Delhi stood at 354 at 4 pm on Friday, up from 343 at the same time a day earlier, indicating a steady deterioration. Authorities warned that the AQI could slip into the ‘severe’ category in the coming days due to unfavourable meteorological conditions.
As a precautionary measure, GRAP-3 restrictions have been implemented to curb further deterioration, including tighter controls on construction activities and emissions.
