India thrash Australia by 48 runs in 4th T20I, take 2-1 series lead

India delivered a commanding performance to defeat Australia by 48 runs in the fourth T20I at Gold Coast on Thursday, taking a 2-1 lead in the five-match series.

Batting first after being put in, India posted 167 runs on the board, led by Shubman Gill’s composed 46 off 39 balls. Abhishek Sharma contributed 28, while Shivam Dube chipped in with 22 runs.

Australian bowlers Nathan Ellis and Adam Zampa shared three wickets each, ensuring India didn’t post an even bigger total.

In reply, Australia faltered against India’s disciplined bowling attack, folding for just 119 runs.

Skipper Mitchell Marsh top-scored with 30 runs, but the rest of the batting lineup crumbled under pressure.

Washington Sundar was the star with the ball, producing a remarkable spell of 3 wickets for just 3 runs. Shivam Dube and Axar Patel added two wickets apiece to seal the emphatic win.

With this victory, India move ahead 2-1 in the series. Australia will now need to win the final T20I to level the contest, while India require just a win or a draw to clinch the series.
