India’s Women’s World Cup 2025 preparations hit a worrying note on Thursday as fast bowler Arundhati Reddy was wheelchaired off the field during the warm-up match against England in Bengaluru.
The incident unfolded in her follow-through after she had already made an early impact with the ball.
Reddy had dismissed opener Amy Jones and nearly grabbed a return catch from skipper Heather Knight when she landed awkwardly on her left leg, collapsing in visible pain.
Medical staff rushed in, but after failed attempts to assist her off the field, a wheelchair was brought in for her exit.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has yet to confirm the extent of Reddy’s injury or her availability for the tournament, which begins on September 30 in Guwahati.
With the pacer playing a key role in India’s bowling attack, the team will be anxiously awaiting medical updates ahead of the marquee event.
