Actor-turned-politician and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay will appear before the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for a second round of questioning on January 19 in connection with the Karur stampede case, officials said on Tuesday.
Vijay was earlier questioned by the central agency for nearly six hours on January 12, during which investigators focused on the circumstances surrounding his delayed arrival at the rally venue.
Officials said the delay allegedly contributed to chaos in an already overcrowded and cramped area, triggering panic among attendees.
The probe relates to the deadly stampede that occurred at Vijay’s political rally in Karur earlier this month, which claimed more than 41 lives and left several others injured.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage and raised serious questions over crowd management, permissions and safety arrangements at the event.
The CBI is examining possible lapses and fixing accountability as part of its ongoing investigation.
