Macron briefs Modi on Ukraine talks, leaders reaffirm commitment to peace

On Saturday, French President Emmanuel Macron and Indian PM Narendra Modi connected over a telephonic call to discuss the outcome of recent discussions in Paris with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky and members of the Coalition of the Willing. 

 Macron said France and India share a “commitment to a just and lasting peace in Ukraine” and underscored the importance of their friendship and strategic partnership in shaping global efforts.

“Strengthened by our friendship and strategic partnership, we will continue to move forward together to pave the way toward peace” stated Macron in his latest social media post, translated from French.

The call focuses India’s ongoing diplomatic engagement on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, with New Delhi balancing its traditional ties with Moscow while supporting dialogue for peace.
