Man killed in Dhaka in crude bomb attack amid rising tensions

In recent developments in Bangladesh, a crude bomb attack on the capital city Dhaka has taken the life of one person. This attack comes just a day before senior BNP leader Tarique Rahman’s much awaited return to the nation.

The deceased, identified as Siam, was targeted when miscreants hurled a crude bomb from a flyover near the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command, the Dhaka Tribune reported.

The killing comes at a sensitive moment, with Rahman, son of former prime minister Khaleda Zia, set to return to Bangladesh on Thursday after 17 years in exile in London.

His arrival coincides with mounting tensions following the recent killing of student leader Sharif Osman Hadi and growing political unease ahead of the general elections.

Meanwhile, diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh have also come under strain, with Dhaka suspending visa services in New Delhi and Agartala.

The developments follow widespread outrage over the killing of a Hindu man, Dipu Chandra Das, in Mymensingh last week. Authorities have launched an investigation into the latest attack.
