Mohammad Rizwan refuses to sign PCB central contract, seeks clarity from board

Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan has reportedly refused to sign the central contract offered by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), marking a fresh flashpoint in Pakistan cricket’s ongoing leadership chaos.

According to a report by Samaa TV, Rizwan has sought clarification from the PCB over his continued exclusion from the T20I setup, demanding answers before committing to the contract.

Rizwan, who was recently sacked as Pakistan’s ODI captain and replaced by Shaheen Shah Afridi, is said to be the only player yet to sign the contract.

Several Pakistani media outlets also reported that the 32-year-old has put forward additional, undisclosed demands to the board.

The standoff comes just days ahead of Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against South Africa.

Rizwan has been out of the T20I squad since March this year, even as former captain Babar Azam was recalled for the Proteas series.

Under Rizwan’s leadership, Pakistan played 20 ODIs, winning nine and losing 11.

His removal came after a review meeting with white-ball coach Mike Hesson, despite recent ODI series wins in Australia and South Africa.

The PCB has yet to respond publicly to Rizwan’s concerns, leaving the issue unresolved.
