Pakistan Navy test fires surface-to-air missile in North Arabian Sea

The Pakistan Navy on Saturday conducted a live-fire exercise in the North Arabian Sea, test-firing the LY-80 (N) surface-to-air missile to demonstrate its operational readiness and combat preparedness.

According to an official statement, the missile was launched from a Vertical Launching System at extended range and successfully engaged and neutralised an aerial target, underscoring the navy’s air defence capabilities.

The exercise also included the use of loitering munition, which effectively struck and destroyed designated surface targets, showcasing precision strike capabilities and its relevance in modern naval warfare.

In addition, the navy carried out successful open-sea trials of an Unmanned Surface Vessel, marking progress in autonomous maritime technology. The trials validated the platform’s ability to combine high-speed performance with mission-critical durability, the statement said.
