Police in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district have lodged an FIR against seven people after a Palestinian flag was allegedly hoisted atop a government primary school building in Lakhaha Aliganj village. The incident took place on Sunday and sparked a frenzy in the area.
According to officials, three men identified as Saddam, Baura, and Ananne, along with four other unidentified partners, raised the flag on the upper primary school. When some villagers objected to the act, the accused allegedly abused and threatened them.
A complaint was filed by a local resident, Sanjay Trivedi, at the Phoolbehar police station. Based on the complaint, police booked the seven accused under relevant sections of the Bhartiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges of promoting enmity, intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace, and criminal intimidation.
Authorities confirmed that an investigation is underway to ascertain the motives behind the act and to identify the other accused. Officials have also assured that steps are being taken to maintain peace and order in the village.
