The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has reportedly requested a one-hour delay to today’s Pakistan–UAE Asia Cup fixture, hoping for a breakthrough in ongoing discussions with the ICC.
The controversy erupted after Pakistan threatened to withdraw from the tournament, following ICC’s rejection of PCB’s demand to suspend match referee Andy Pycroft.
The issue stems from the so-called “handshake controversy” against India on Sunday, which the PCB claims was mishandled.
Despite the uncertainty, the Pakistan team has already left its hotel and is en route to the ground.
Should the match fail to take place, Pakistan will be automatically eliminated from the Asia Cup, handing UAE qualification to the Super 4 stage. The tense standoff now leaves both fans and officials awaiting a final decision.
