Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh has lauded political strategist-turned-leader Prashant Kishor for his bold and issue-driven political campaign in Bihar, saying the Jan Suraaj Party founder has brought neglected public concerns back into focus.
“Issues that the mainstream parties have not taken up are being raised by the Jan Suraaj Party. However, the fundamental questions that Prashant Kishor and his group are raising will take a long time to resolve. He may get some seats,” Harivansh said, adding that Kishor’s political journey has reshaped Bihar’s political narrative.
Historical parallel with Socialist movement
Drawing a comparison with India’s early Socialist movement, Harivansh recalled how leaders like Jayaprakash Narayan and Dr Ram Manohar Lohia shaped national discourse in the 1950s and 60s.
“The Socialist Party didn’t achieve immediate electoral dominance but left a lasting impact by 1967. Similarly, the issues raised by Prashant Kishor and his group will take time to resonate widely,” he observed.
Bihar heads for crucial assembly polls
The Bihar Assembly elections will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results on November 14. Within the NDA, BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each, while LJP (Ram Vilas) will fight 29, and RLM and HAM will contest six seats each.
The main battle lines are drawn between the NDA and the INDIA alliance, led by Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD, aiming to unseat Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
