Residents of Bengaluru’s Lingarajapuram area are facing growing health concerns after sewage allegedly contaminated the drinking water supply in parts of KSFC Layout, under North City Corporation limits.Â
Around 30–40 households have reportedly stopped using tap water for over a week, shifting to private sources amid fears of a public health crisis.
Locals said several families have suffered stomach infections, vomiting and diarrhoea over the past few months, with some cases requiring hospitalisation.
The situation worsened recently after residents noticed foul odours, froth in tap water and thick sludge inside underground sumps.
Following repeated complaints, the Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) confirmed that sewage had entered the drinking water pipeline. However, residents alleged that the exact leakage point is yet to be identified.
Doctors treating patients said the symptoms were consistent with water-borne bacterial infections, raising concerns of wider contamination.
