Shreyas Iyer withdraws from India A, ahead of second unofficial test

India’s middle-order batter Shreyas Iyer has withdrawn from the India A squad hours before the second four-day unofficial Test against Australia A in Lucknow, citing personal reasons.

Iyer scored just 8 runs in the first unofficial Test and had modest performances in the Duleep Trophy earlier this month. Despite this, he remains under consideration for India’s upcoming West Indies Test series starting October 2.

In team changes, pacer Mohammed Siraj replaces Khaleel Ahmed for the second match, while all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy remains sidelined due to a knee injury.

The first unofficial Test between India A and Australia A ended in a high-scoring draw, with both teams surpassing the 530-run mark before declaring. The upcoming match will provide a key platform for emerging players to impress the selectors and stake their claim for a place in India’s senior Test lineup.
