SP chief urges NDA allies to oppose BJP’s ‘voter list deletion’

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday intensified his attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party, alleging a “massive conspiracy” to delete voter names during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Uttar Pradesh.

A day after announcing ₹2 lakh ex gratia for the families of block-level officers (BLOs) who died during SIR duty, Yadav appealed not only to opposition parties but also to NDA allies to unite against what he termed the BJP’s “fraudulent attempt to manipulate the voter list”.

In a sharply worded statement, Yadav warned that today’s deletion of votes could pave the way for targeting land records, ration cards, caste certificates and reservation rights in the future.

He alleged that district magistrates, election officials and supervisors were pressuring BLOs to push eligible voters into the ‘Third Option’, triggering verification notices once the draft rolls are published on December 9, 2025.

“Most voters’ names will be removed from the final rolls on February 7, 2026 if this continues,” he claimed, demanding a three-month extension for publishing the draft roll.

Accusing the BJP, its allies and “corrupt” Election Commission members of hijacking the electoral process, Yadav urged citizens to “stop all work and resist the SIR fraud.”
