Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed gratitude to the people of Maharashtra as the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance edged closer to a decisive win in the 2026 Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
In a post on X, Modi thanked voters for supporting the NDA’s “agenda of public welfare and good governance” and said the election results reflect a strengthened bond between the alliance and the citizens of Maharashtra.
“The experience of our performance and the vision of development have touched the hearts of the people. I express heartfelt gratitude to all the people of Maharashtra,” he wrote.
The Prime Minister added that the mandate would provide “greater momentum to progress” and called it a celebration of the state’s rich and glorious culture.
Early trends show the Mahayuti alliance, led by the BJP, maintaining a commanding lead in the civic body polls, with the alliance poised to secure a majority.
