Trump slams India, China over Russian oil purchases in first UN speech since second term

In his first address to the United Nations General Assembly since beginning his second term, U.S. President Donald Trump criticized India and China for funding Russia’s ongoing war through continued purchases of Russian oil.

Speaking before world leaders, Trump argued that such actions inadvertently contribute to the conflict and called out NATO countries for not significantly cutting off Russian energy imports.

“Think of it, they’re funding the war against themselves. Who the hell ever heard of that one?” Trump said, emphasizing the need for coordinated international action.

He warned that if Russia fails to negotiate a deal to end the war, the United States is prepared to impose “a very strong round of powerful tariffs” that could quickly halt the bloodshed.

However, Trump stressed that for these measures to be effective, European nations must join the U.S. in implementing identical sanctions.

His remarks underline Washington’s push for greater global pressure on Russia amid ongoing geopolitical tensions.
