Yogi Adityanath launches Mission Shakti 5.0, vows safer, stronger future for womens

On Saturday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched Mission Shakti 5.0, a campaign dedicated to women’s dignity, safety, and self-reliance. The initiative was inaugurated at the Lok Bhavan auditorium in Lucknow.

The CM announced the establishment of Mission Shakti Centres in all 1,647 police stations across the state, with women beat officers assigned to strengthen local support systems. He also released information booklets,  SOP manuals, and the Sashakt Nari, Samriddh Pradesh” folder.

Yogi said the campaign, which begins with a bike rally on September 21, will initially run for a month and later extend to three months. With special arrangements at temples, security will also be tightened during Navratri.

Highlighting the progress since 2017, he said the number of women police personnel has increased from 10,000 to over 44,000. The government has mandated 20% female participation in all new recruitments, with over 12,000 women joining the police force in the latest drive.

The CM also pointed to welfare schemes like Samuhik Vivah Yojana and Kanya Sumangala Yojana, noting their direct benefits for lakhs of daughters. He added, “Mission Shakti has shown women the path to safety, respect, and independence.”
