Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed deep sorrow over the sudden demise of acclaimed singer Zubeen Garg, who passed away in Singapore following a scuba diving accident.
In a post on social media, PM Modi said, “Shocked by the sudden demise of popular singer Zubeen Garg. He will be remembered for his rich contribution to music. His renditions were very popular among people across all walks of life. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti.”
Zubeen Garg, a celebrated voice from Assam, was best known for chartbusters such as “Ya Ali” and “Jaane Kya Chaahhe Mann Baawra.”
He primarily worked in Assamese, Bengali, and Hindi films but also showcased his versatility by singing in more than 40 languages and dialects.
His untimely passing has left the Indian music industry and millions of fans grieving, with tributes pouring in from across the country.
