A 4.3 magnitude earthquake jolted the San Francisco Bay Area early Monday, the United States Geological Survey (USGS) reported.
The tremor, which struck shortly before 3 a.m. PDT, was centered in Berkeley at a depth of 7.8 kilometres.
Residents across parts of San Francisco, Oakland, and nearby cities reported feeling a sharp shake that briefly rattled homes.
Despite the early morning jolt, authorities confirmed there were no immediate reports of injuries or significant damage.
The Bay Area, which sits along the seismically active San Andreas Fault system, frequently experiences small to moderate earthquakes.
Seismologists noted that while the quake was relatively minor, it served as a reminder of the region’s vulnerability to larger seismic events.
Officials urged residents to remain prepared with emergency kits and safety plans, though normal activity resumed shortly after the quake.
