World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz added yet another trophy to his cabinet by defeating Taylor Fritz to clinch the Tokyo Open 2025. Carlos defeated Fritz in a straight set thriller of 6-4, 6-4.
With this victory, the Spaniard claimed his eighth title of the season, while also marking his career-best 67th win of the year.
Nine days prior to this victory, Carlos lost to Fritz during the Laver Cup, ending his 13-match unbeaten run. However, this time Alcaraz made a powerful comeback to secure his 24th tour-level crown.
Since losing to Jannik Sinner in the Wimbledon final in July, Carlos has won three successive titles in Cincinnati, the US Open and now Tokyo.
“It has been my best season so far without a doubt- eight titles, 10 finals,” Alcaraz said, crediting his resilience after a difficult start to the year.
With over two months left, he is chasing Sinner’s 2023 tally of 73 wins.
