Two people were killed and seven others injured on Saturday in a blast at a coaching centre in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh.
The explosion occurred in the basement of the building, where a septic tank is believed to have accumulated excess concentrated methane, according to police sources.
The injured were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment, and their condition is reported to be stable. Local authorities cordoned off the area and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact cause of the blast.
Police have urged residents to stay calm and assured that safety measures will be reviewed in similar establishments to prevent such incidents.
