Bareilly authorities demolish banquet hall of arrested man

Authorities on Saturday demolished a portion of the banquet hall ‘Raza Palace’ owned by Dr Nafees, who has been arrested in connection with the recent violence in the city linked to the “I Love Muhammad” campaign.

The demolition came as police stopped a delegation of Samajwadi Party leaders from visiting Bareilly.

The Bareilly Development Authority (BDA) stated that the portion of the hall that was demolished was built in violation of construction norms.

Dr Nafees, a close aide of cleric Tauqeer Raza Khan, has already been sent to jail following the clashes that erupted after protests in the city.

Officials clarified that the demolition was carried out strictly as per legal procedures and that no individual was specifically targeted.

The action is part of ongoing measures by the administration to restore law and order and ensure adherence to building regulations in Bareilly after the recent unrest.
