Star Indian batter shatters 28-year-old ODI record with 973 runs in 2025

Indian opener Smriti Mandhana has once again etched her name in cricket history, breaking a 28-year-old record to become the player with the most runs in a calendar year in women’s ODI history.

Mandhana has amassed 973 runs in 2025, surpassing Australia’s Belinda Clark, who scored 970 runs in 1997.

The Queen of Indian Cricket has been in sensational form this year, also breaking Virat Kohli’s record for the fastest ODI century by an Indian.

Mandhana reached her hundred in just 50 balls against Australia in the third match of the 3-match series against Australia, eclipsing Kohli’s 63-ball milestone.

As of the latest update, India are playing their third match of the 2025 ODI World Cup against South Africa.

Batting first, India Women stand at 48/0 after 9 overs, with Smriti Mandhana unbeaten on 16 off 24 balls and Pratika Rawal solid at 26 off 31.
