The Jan Suraaj Party (JSP), led by poll strategist Prashant Kishor, on Thursday unveiled its first list of 51 candidates ahead of the upcoming Bihar Assembly elections, marking the party’s electoral debut.

The list features a diverse mix of professionals, including former bureaucrats, academics, lawyers, doctors, actors, and social activists, a move aimed at offering voters a fresh alternative in state politics.

Among the prominent names in the first list are:

  • KC Sinha – Former Vice Chancellor of Patna University and Nalanda Open University, and a renowned mathematician, contesting from Kumhrar (Patna).
  • RK Mishra – Retired IPS officer, contesting from Darbhanga.
  • YV Giri – Senior advocate, contesting from Manjhi.
  • Ritesh Pandey – Popular Bhojpuri actor, contesting from Kargahar.
  • Kishor Kumar Munna – Party general secretary, contesting from Sahara.

JSP national president Uday Singh announced that the list ensures representation across communities – 17 seats for extremely backward classes, 11 for backward classes, eight for minorities, seven for Scheduled Castes, and eight from the general category.

Singh also confirmed that the second list would be released within the next two days, while Prashant Kishor is set to launch the party’s campaign from Raghopur on October 11.
