Another Haryana policeman found dead days after IPS officer’s suicide

A fresh tragedy has struck the Haryana Police as an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) was found dead in Rohtak’s Ladhot village on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as ASI Sandeep Kumar, was found dead in a room near an agricultural field.

A “final note” purportedly written by him has surfaced, in which he allegedly blamed senior IPS officer Y Puran Kumar for his death. The note is currently under forensic examination, officials said.

Rohtak Superintendent of Police Surendra Singh Bhoria described Kumar as a “hardworking and honest officer” who was posted in the Cyber Cell. “A forensic team has been called, and an investigation is underway,” Bhoria said.

The incident comes just a week after IPS officer Y Puran Kumar’s death on October 7, which sparked widespread outrage after his note accused senior officials of harassment and caste discrimination.

Following that case, the Haryana government had transferred Rohtak SP Vivek Bijarniya, one of the officers named by Kumar’s wife, IAS officer Amneet P Kumar, who had demanded strict action.

The police have invoked provisions under the SC/ST Act as part of the ongoing probe.
