India’s Lakshya Sen crashed out of the French Open Super 750 badminton tournament in Paris after a disappointing first-round defeat to Ireland’s Nhat Nguyen on Tuesday.
The world No. 14 struggled to find rhythm throughout the match, going down 7-21, 16-21 in just 37 minutes.
Nguyen dominated the opening game with sharp smashes and better court coverage, leaving Sen chasing points from the start.
The Indian showed brief resistance in the second game, but Nguyen maintained his composure to seal the win and advance to the next round.
The early exit marks another setback for Sen, who has been battling inconsistency on the BWF World Tour in recent months.
With this loss, India’s singles hopes now rest on HS Prannoy and Kidambi Srikanth, who are yet to play their opening matches in the tournament.
