Three arrested for opening fire at cow vigilante near Hyderabad

Three men have been arrested for allegedly opening fire at a cow vigilante on the outskirts of Hyderabad, police said on Thursday. 

The incident occurred around 5 pm on Wednesday near the Pocharam IT corridor in Yamnampet, Ghatkesar. 

The victim, identified as Bidla Prashant Kumar alias Sonu (29), a member of the Go Rakshak Dal, sustained a bullet injury to his chest and is currently undergoing treatment at Yashoda Hospital in Secunderabad.

Accused identified and motive revealed


The arrested have been identified as Mohammad Ibrahim Qureshi (24), Kuruva Srinivas (29), and Hassanbin Mohsin (22), while another accused, Mohammad Haneef Qureshi (34), remains absconding. 

According to Rachakonda Police Commissioner G. Sudheer Babu, the accused, attacked Prashant for exposing their illegal cattle transportation business, which allegedly caused them a loss of ₹1 crore. 

They also claimed Prashant had demanded ₹5 lakh to stop his vigilante activities.

Swift police action and recoveries


Police teams arrested three of the accused within 12 hours, seizing a country-made pistol, a Maruti Swift car, two empty cartridges, and mobile phones. 

The suspects were booked under Sections 109 and 61(2) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Arms Act. Authorities confirmed the men were already facing multiple cases under the Telangana Cow Slaughter and Prevention of Cruelty Acts.
