Tej Pratap Yadav takes aim at Tejashwi, vows to strengthen his own party

Janshakti Janata Dal (JJD) chief Tej Pratap Yadav launched a sharp attack on his brother Tejashwi Yadav, the RJD leader and Mahagathbandhan’s chief ministerial candidate, during a rally ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections.

“No, I would rather die than go back to that party. We have our own party, Janshakti Janata Dal, and we will take it forward. I have no greed for positions. Those who want to show their greed can become Chief Ministers and Ministers,” he said to PTI.

Tej Pratap is contesting from the Mahua Assembly constituency.

Estranged from RJD over social media controversy

The rift with the RJD followed a controversial Facebook post on May 24, 2025, where Tej Pratap claimed a 12-year relationship with a woman named Anushka Yadav.

The post went viral, sparking backlash and internal party tensions. Lalu Prasad Yadav expelled his son from the RJD for six years, citing moral and ethical concerns, and severed familial ties.

Tej Pratap initially claimed his account was hacked but later admitted to making the post.

Launching a new political journey

After leaving the RJD, Tej Pratap founded the Janshakti Janata Dal on September 26, 2025.

Previously led by Balendra Das, the party is now spearheaded by Tej Pratap as he stakes his claim independently in the Bihar elections.
