Rajnath Singh urges India to stay prepared for war-like situations

Defence minister Rajnath Singh on Monday said India must remain prepared for potential “war-like situations” following its recent military conflict with Pakistan and the changing global security landscape.

Speaking at the annual session of the Society of Indian Defence Manufacturers (SIDM), Singh highlighted that the weakening of the established world order and rising conflict zones demand a complete redefinition of India’s security and defence strategies.

Referring to Operation Sindoor, the four-day conflict with Pakistan in May, Singh said the operation should be treated as a vital learning experience for future preparedness.

He stressed that India’s defence readiness must be built on self-reliance, innovation, and the ability to control its own supply and maintenance chains.

The minister also underscored the success of indigenous defence systems such as the Akash missile, BrahMos cruise missile, and Akashteer air defence control system, which played key roles during the operation.

Their performance, he noted, reinforced India’s confidence in domestically produced military technology and highlighted the joint efforts of the armed forces and defence manufacturers in strengthening national security.
