A Delhi court on Friday extended the judicial custody of self-proclaimed spiritual leader Chaitanyanand Saraswati by 14 days in connection with an alleged molestation case.
The Patiala House Court ordered that Saraswati remain in custody until November 14. His bail application has been listed for hearing on November 7.
Saraswati, who was arrested following an FIR lodged at Vasant Kunj North Police Station, is accused of molesting multiple girls at an educational institute.
He was produced before Judicial Magistrate First Class Animesh Kumar at the end of his previous judicial custody period.
During the latest hearing, Delhi Police informed the court that most victims are currently out of town due to the session break and are expected to return by November 4, delaying the status report.
The court, however, expressed concern, stating that an ongoing investigation is not a sufficient reason for adjournment.
The police have reportedly recorded statements of 16 victims and seized the mobile phones of five, with more devices expected to be collected.
Officials also revealed that obscene photos and comments are part of the evidence, and forensic examination reports are awaited.
Five individuals, including three women, have been arrested in connection with the case.
