Jaishankar, Sa’ar discuss Gaza peace plan, global security challenges

External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Tuesday welcomed Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar to New Delhi, marking his first official visit to India.

The two leaders held wide-ranging talks focused on strengthening the India-Israel strategic partnership, deepening economic cooperation, and reinforcing joint efforts against terrorism.

Jaishankar described the relationship as one built on “trust and reliability” and said both nations face a common threat from terrorism.

“It is essential that we work towards a global approach of zero-tolerance towards terrorism in all its forms,” he said, underlining shared security concerns.

The meeting also touched on regional developments, including the Gaza Peace Plan, where Jaishankar appreciated Israel’s perspective and highlighted India’s support for a peaceful and lasting solution.

Both sides celebrated growing collaboration in key areas like defence, innovation, agriculture, rail and port infrastructure, renewable energy, and healthcare.

Jaishankar noted India’s rapid development and expressed interest in expanding business opportunities with Israel.

During the visit, the two ministers also witnessed the signing of an MoU on diplomatic training between their foreign ministries, reinforcing institutional cooperation.

Sa’ar is on a three-day visit to India, underscoring the deepening relationship between the two countries.
