LJP MP Shambhavi Chaudhary sparks controversy over ink marks

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) MP Shambhavi Chaudhary landed in controversy after flaunting ink marks on both her left and right index fingers following the first phase of Bihar assembly elections on Thursday.

The incident, which quickly went viral on social media, led to allegations of double voting and voter fraud.

RJD’s national spokesperson Kanchana Yadav accused Chaudhary of voting twice, claiming that “ink marks on both hands” proved malpractice at the polling booth.

Yadav questioned the Election Commission over how such an incident could occur, alleging that the LJP(RV) leader’s father, Ashok Chaudhary, was also involved.

In response, Chaudhary dismissed the allegations as baseless, calling it a “human error” that should not be blown out of proportion.

The Patna district administration later confirmed her version, stating that the polling staff had mistakenly applied ink to the wrong hand.

“After the intervention of the Presiding Officer, ink was applied to the correct finger. The MP cast her vote only once,” the administration clarified in an official statement.

The first phase of the Bihar assembly elections was held on November 6, covering 121 constituencies across 18 districts, and recorded a voter turnout of 65.08%.
