Suspect behind Red Fort blast planned Babri anniversary strike: Officials

As per the reported erupting, Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, one of the prime suspects in the Red Fort blast case, was planning a powerful explosion around December 6, the demolition anniversary of Babri Masjid case, PTI reported.

The revelation came after investigators pieced together information from the interrogation of eight people arrested in connection with the interstate ‘white collar’ terror module operating out of Faridabad.

Dr. Nabi, who was seen driving the explosives-laden Hyundai i20 just minutes before it exploded near the Red Fort on November 10, was reportedly coordinating with other module members to carry out a major strike in the capital, officials said.

The explosion, which killed several people and damaged nearby vehicles, is now believed to have been a premature detonation.

According to investigators, the module had links stretching from Kashmir to Delhi and was using medical professionals as operatives and facilitators.

The plan, they said, aimed to trigger unrest around the sensitive December 6 anniversary. Agencies are now probing Dr. Nabi’s movements, digital communications, and financial trail to uncover the extent of the network’s reach and potential foreign connections.
