“Will always remain brothers”: Sidda on second b’fast meet with Shivakumar

Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy chief minister D K Shivakumar held their second breakfast meeting within a week on Tuesday, seeking to quell speculation about internal rifts and leadership change within the ruling Congress.

The meeting, held at Shivakumar’s Sadashivanagar residence, came amid reports of tensions between the two senior leaders.

After the discussion, Siddaramaiah reaffirmed that the duo “will always remain as brothers” and will follow the directives of the Congress high command, including Rahul Gandhi. Shivakumar echoed the sentiment, calling the meeting an interaction “between brothers.”

The Congress leadership had earlier instructed both leaders to resolve differences before the winter session of the Karnataka Legislative Assembly begins in Belagavi on December 8.

Their first breakfast meeting on November 29 was also facilitated by Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal. Both leaders reiterated their commitment to working together ahead of the 2028 Assembly elections.
