“Double standards”: Tejashwi Yadav hits back at PM Modi on mother abuse row

The upcoming Bihar Assembly elections have turned into a political storm after abusive remarks allegedly aimed at Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s late mother from the stage of an RJD-Congress rally in Darbhanga. The video, which went viral on social media earlier this week, sparked outrage from BJP leaders, who accused the opposition of stooping to unacceptable levels.

On Tuesday, PM Modi himself broke his silence during a rally in Bihar, calling the remarks an attack not just on his mother but on “every mother, sister, and daughter of the country.” With visible emotion, he said, “Mother is our self-respect. These abuses are an insult to all women of Bihar, and I share the same pain as every son of this land.”

But the row deepened further on Wednesday after RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, son of party supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, hit back at the Prime Minister. Accusing Modi of “double standards,” Yadav recalled the PM’s controversial past remarks, including references to political rivals as a “50 crore girlfriend” and “Jersey cow.”

In a detailed post on X, Yadav alleged hypocrisy and said BJP had no moral authority to lecture the opposition. Yadav also accused PM Modi of supporting Prajwal Revanna, who has been accused of raping women and girls, and appeals for his victory.

This post from Tejashwi has only added to the heated controversy and is likely to impact the dynamics of Bihar Assembly election.
