J&K government sacks five employees over alleged terror links

Five more government employees have been terminated by the Jammu and Kashmir administration, over their alleged links with terror outfits, complying with years-long crackdown aimed at dismantling the “terror-ecosystem” within government machinery.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha ordered the dismissals under Article 311(2)(c) of the Constitution, which allows removal without a formal inquiry in the interest of state security.

An official said the action was part of sustained efforts to target terror networks and their support structures. Over the past six years, the LG administration has removed 85 government employees after surveillance found them allegedly working with militant groups.

Employees terminated and alleged terror links

The sacked employees include Mohammad Ishfaq, a school teacher accused of working for Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) and allegedly tasked with killing a police officer in Doda in 2022.

Another names include, Tariq Ahmad Shah, a lab technician said to have links with Hizb-ul-Mujahideen; and Bashir Ahmad Mir, an assistant lineman alleged to be an over-ground worker (OGW) for LeT in Bandipora’s Gurez area.

Also terminated were Farooq Ahmad Bhat, a forest department field worker accused of aiding Hizb-ul-Mujahideen, and Mohammad Yousuf, a health department driver allegedly in contact with Pakistan-based terrorists.
