Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said the BJP-led Mahayuti’s sweeping victory in the Maharashtra civic body elections reflected the growing trust of people in the party’s development model.
Addressing a rally in West Bengal, where Assembly elections are due in March–April, the prime minister highlighted the alliance’s historic performance in key urban centres.
Referring to the results, PM Modi said the BJP registered a record win in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), one of the world’s largest civic bodies, calling it a landmark moment for the party.
He added that victories in cities once considered politically difficult for the BJP showed a clear shift in public sentiment. The prime minister said the youth, especially Gen Z voters, have reposed strong faith in the BJP’s governance and vision.
His remarks come as the party seeks to expand its footprint in West Bengal, where it emerged as the second-largest party in the 2021 Assembly elections.
