An allegedly doctored video of AAP leader and former Delhi chief minister Atishi continued to be available on social media on Saturday, even after a Jalandhar court ordered its removal within 24 hours.
The court had directed platforms such as Meta, X and Telegram to take down the clip, saying its circulation could disturb public order and religious harmony in Punjab.
The case relates to a video that appears to show Atishi making remarks about Sikh religious figure Guru Tegh Bahadur during a Delhi Assembly session. Punjab Police have said the clip was edited in a misleading way to create controversy and communal tension.
An FIR was filed on January 7 after a complaint by AAP leader Iqbal Singh Bagga, who alleged that several opposition leaders shared the video to spark a political row.
The cyber crime cell later submitted more than 500 links linked to the clip and a forensic report claiming it was doctored.
Despite the court order, the video remained visible on several profiles. The court has now asked for a compliance report within 10 days, as the issue has also led to a dispute between Punjab Police and the Delhi Assembly secretariat over the video’s authenticity.
