Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh on Wednesday underlined the growing importance of air power in modern warfare, highlighting the Indian Air Force’s proactive role during Operation Sindoor, India’s military response to Pakistan following the Pahalgam terror attack in May 2025.
Addressing the 22nd Subroto Mukherjee Seminar organised by the Centre for Aerospace Power and Strategic Studies (CAPSS) in New Delhi, the Indian Air Force chief said air power had emerged as the most effective component of military strength in today’s conflict environment.
According to ANI, Singh said the Air Force had consistently delivered swift results, whether in evacuating people from conflict zones, striking terrorist infrastructure, or targeting bases across the border. He noted that during Operation Sindoor, air power succeeded in sending a strong message to Pakistan within hours.
“The part of military power that has delivered what was required is air power,” the IAF chief said, stressing the need to strengthen this arm if India aims to remain a force to reckon with.
Singh added that the operation demonstrated how air power can quickly alter the course of a conflict and produce decisive outcomes.
