‘Her eyes still’: Raut on Sunetra Pawar’s probable role in NCP

Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut on Friday urged political parties to exercise restraint regarding leadership discussions in the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) following the death of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar in a plane crash.

Speaking to reporters, Raut described it as “inhuman” to debate leadership changes while Sunetra Pawar, Ajit’s widow, is still grieving.

Raut said, “Her eyes are still welling. If anyone has raised this issue, they have zero humanity,” stressing that political ambitions should take a backseat to compassion.

He also called on the BJP to withdraw ₹70,000 crore scam charges linked to the irrigation department against Pawar.

Meanwhile, senior NCP leader Narhari Zirwal indicated there is public sentiment in favour of Sunetra Pawar taking a more prominent role, including in the state cabinet.

The remarks come as the party navigates the sensitive period after Pawar’s cremation with full state honours and widespread public mourning.
