King of Bollywood, Shah Rukh Khan has stepped forward to support flood-affected families in Punjab through his non-profit, the Meer Foundation.
Shah Rukh’s foundation partnered with local NGOs to distribute essential relief kits to 1,500 households across Amritsar, Patiala, Fazilka and Firozpur districts. The kits included medicines, hygiene supplies, food items, mosquito nets, tarpaulin sheets, folding beds and cotton mattresses, aiming to provide immediate health, safety and shelter support.
Punjab has witnessed severe flooding over the past month, impacting 23 districts, damaging crops, livestock and homes, and claiming around 40 lives.
Earlier, reports suggested that Shah Rukh Khan may also adopt 500 homes in Amritsar to aid long-term rehabilitation.
His initiative follows fellow actors Akshay Kumar, who pledged ₹5 crore, calling it “sewa,” and Salman Khan, who sent five rescue boats to assist relief operations.
Shah Rukh Khan will next feature in the movie “King” alongside Deepika Padukone and his daughter Suhana Khan.
