A delegation led by Chief Negotiator and Assistant US Trade Representative Brendan Lynch held discussions in New Delhi with officials from the Department of Commerce, led by Special Secretary Rajesh Agarwal.
The talks focused on the ongoing India-US Bilateral Trade Agreement negotiations and various aspects of deepening economic engagement.
The Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in an official statement, described the discussions as “positive and forward-looking,” acknowledging the enduring importance of trade relations between the two nations.
Both sides agreed to intensify efforts in order to achieve an agreement that would serve the long-term interests of India and the US.
The visit underscores the continuing momentum in bilateral economic ties, with trade between the two countries crossing the $190 billion mark in recent years.
Officials said the talks were aimed at resolving pending issues while laying the foundation for expanded cooperation in new sectors of mutual interest.
